The DX3 is based on the Old XR3... the XR3i has more features then than the Xr3.

good radio really.. I bought my xr3 in 1998 and its been droped, beat on, heck the whole bottom of the case is in pieces ahdn held together with CA glue and electrical tape but the radio continues to work flawlessly.
