He shouldn't be still breaking it in, he got it in december. Unless he's run 1 to 2 tanks per month max.
If it won't idle when warm but idles fine when cold then it could be that your piston and sleeve have worn out. Though unless you have been putting 1 gallon a week through it it should be fine.
It could be a air leak
It could be that your LSN is rich as suggested.
Your idle screw could be too low.
Also, check the condition of the exhaust oring gasket at the block to header, and if you have a 1pc pipe at the header to pipe coupler as well.
Your clutch shoes could be worn out as well.
