On an electric radio controlled car or gas powered a "Slipper clutch" exist. This is two disks at sides of a gear. Sometimes on the main gear, mine was at one other gear in the transmission. So a nut is on that and if you turn it right you have less clutch involved at drivetrain (The whole transmission), if you turn it left you have more clutch involved that means if you turn it totally left the car will not move when use throttle because the slipper clutch is much opened and make no affection on the drivetrain.
